Information for professionals
The Linked Up project is part of Carers Link, East Dunbartonshire and is a service for young people aged 8-25 who have a caring role.
– If a young person is under 16 years old, they are usually referred to as Young Carers
– If they are over 16 and under 25, they are referred to as Young Adult Carers
A Young Carer / Young Adult Carer is anyone who provides unpaid care to a family member or friend who has a learning disability, physical disability or struggles with a mental health or substance misuse problem.
They might provide care alone or share the care with other family members/friend and the young person doesn’t always live with the person they care for. Their responsibilities will vary depending on the nature of the illness/disability and their family situation
